Pincushion Fun!!

I was able to stitch the designs last night for all 3 pieces-they turned out just wonderful and it was such fun doing the finishing-man I had a good time with them!

First I have the 2 finials (Anna's Darning Pincushion) and I just love them. One for myself and one for a dear friend :) I painted them flat black and sanded them lightly. They were a joy to finish :) I tied some trims around them as per the BBD models/instructions-but will probably remove the trims on the one going to live with a friend so that she can add her own vintage trims around the finial if she likes :)

Next I stitched a design for one of the Ramekins and finished it as a pincushion. What took the longest on this finish was ruching the gingham ribbon and sewing it on. :) It's too adorable and I LOVE it and will be finishing the other 3 in the near future for myself and 2 readers :) This one is for a dear friend... I hope you will like it my friend :)

In the works....

Some of you may remember when I shared about Ann's Darning Pincushion from Blackbird Designs that uses the turned wood finial...these will be my next stitch. I am stitching one for myself and one for a friend I know will like it as much as I do :) I hope to stitch them both tonight :) We have had a busy day but I am looking forward to time in my stitching chair :)

AND, I found a couple of items this week that I want to use in finishing. I plan to use the cutting boards (aren't they gorgeous??) as hornbooks for myself and a friend that I know will love it. And I want to stitch and finish the Ceramic Ramekins (bowl) as pincushions for myself and three others :)

I can't thank you enough for your sweet visits :) I appreciate them and YOU so much :) Please do come again :)

Pumpkin Blossom Pincushion

This was another fun stitch :) I love how my fibers look with it.
It's stuffed with crushed walnut shells and I used some of my hand-dyed trim (AKA my version of chenille trim) added a button and some pins :) I love the way it came out :) I also LOVE the fabric I used for the back :)

Hannah's Small Basket

Now that the finishing is done, I love it even more :) It turned out great! There were many ways I could have attached the design to the basket...I decided to Velcro the finished piece to the basket so I can remove it if I ever chose to do something else with the piece (the piece is laced with the extra linen remaining on the backside so there is no damage to the linen), but it's so pretty finished this way I am sure I will not remove it. She will go right beside my stitching chair. I love it!!

Looking forward to my next stitch :) From Blackbird Designs Loose Feather Autumn Leaflet. I plan to stitch them both-but start with the basket. I am using 32ct. linen I dyed myself as well as my own fibers for this one. Can't wait :)

Hubby saw the surgeon today and his surgery will be on June 14th :) He was disappointed that it couldn't be Friday, BUT this will give us 2 more weeks to prepare :) Thank you for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers :)

Thank you so much for stopping by today :) I honestly cannot thank you enough for your sweet comments and emails. You're all so kind :) Please do come again :)

Here's Hannah :)

This was such a joy to stitch. I love the muted colors. I had initially planned to finish it on a box...BUT, after the stitching was complete I decided I am going to go with a different choice. The little Christmas basket in the photo is about to get a make-over -it was a yard sale find with 2 other larger ones-my SIL gave them to me years ago-she paid a dime for the three :) I'll post a pic once I do the finishing :) Several of you mentioned you were going to stitch this...oh I hope you do as you will enjoy it so much-it's such a pleasant, calm stitch :)

Bird N Blossoms Pin Pillow :)

This was such a quick stitch...I know many things are quick stitches for me-but this one I stitched while watching 2 back to back hour TV shows with hubby last night :)
I think he is SO adorable. I used some old blue jeans that belonged to my son to do the finishing :) I love re-purposing clothing that belonged to family like that :) Makes the finish so special. You can see the wear in the denim-my son will be 30 next month...not sure how old these jeans are(he hasn't lived at home in almost 10 years-so I know they are at least that old)they were VERY tattered-he got some good use from them, and now I am getting some good use from them :)-I tea stained some lace and added a button from one of our pair of jeans as well :)

I am looking forward to my next stitch-Hannah's Small Basket by Blackbird Designs. I dyed my fabric and it's dry ready to go and I pulled the fibers I want to use...BUT I must mow the grass first :) I am hoping the pool has warmed enough for a quick dip after mowing.....that always feels so nice and rehydrates :)

Jenny Bean Pin Tuffet finished :)

OH, I love this one more than the other JB Pin Tuffets I have stitched and finished. This one is for my dear friend Carolyn and I went with a different finish for it. I finished it off on a Nantucket Basket. I hinged it so she can open and use the basket if she wants or she can leave it closed with the closure I added and use it only as the pincushion. I love it :) I hope you will too my friend :)

Productive Saturday

I just have to thank you all for your super sweet comments-I appreciate them more than you can know :) THANK YOU :)

I framed Mr. Partridge today and love the way he looks :) Some pieces just make me happy and this is one of those pieces :)

I started bright and early today dyeing some floss. This is for myself and a dear friend. Here it all is drying outside in the breeze :) Flosses are 100% Cotton, overdyed with RIT Dye in the colors I wanted to achieve-flosses used are many in color. Dyes I used for these batches wine, Apple green, scarlet, old blue jeans and taupe today. Whether I use a hot water bath dye depends on the amount of color I am trying to achieve. Like I said in an earlier post-it was truly trial and error when I fisrt tried my hand at floss dyeing...now I can achieve dye batches that match :)-it just takes patience and a lot of time for the whole of the process from start to a finish when your flosses are carded(if you make your own cards as I do that adds extra time) and ready to hang and use.

I dyed two different batches today :) This one..

And this one :)

Thank you all so much for your sweet visits and emails :) I appreciate them so very much!
